The City of Torrance is recruiting for a Administrative Analyst to be part of the Fire Department Team.
The Department The Torrance Fire Department (TFD) is a public safety department that prides itself as an integral part of the Torrance community. Torrance Fire Department is dedicated to protecting and providing for life safety, environmental protection, and property conservation through education, hazard reduction, and emergency response. The Torrance Fire Department is a nationally recognized ISO Class 1 premier all-risk public safety organization and a Center for Public Safety (CPSE) Accredited Agency. The City of Torrance takes great pride in the quality of its staff, stations, and equipment.
The Department provides 24-hour “all-risk” safety service by staffing seven engine companies, two truck companies, five paramedic rescue units, and a Basic Life Support Ambulance service. These resources are geographically distributed throughout the City’s six fire stations and are commanded by a shift Battalion chief. The same personnel and apparatus are available to respond to all other types of emergency incidents. Cross-discipline of these resources gives us a rapid response to all types of incidents throughout the City.
The Position Under direction of the Administrative Services Manager, the Administrative Analyst assists the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Administration Divisions. This individual will support the department with its electronic patient care reporting system, patient transportation billing, data analysis and report writing. The individual will assist division managers with agenda item and process execution and state and local audits. The Administrative Analyst serves as a department website editor, assists with the recruitment process, and other related duties as required.
For more information about the duties of the position,. Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills would be acceptable. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be: A Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field and at least one (1) year of related professional experience; or two (2) years of related college course work and four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative or analytical experience. Successful candidates will possess the following: Be proficient in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); Have the ability to monitor and track divisional workloads and projects, identify issues and trends, and make recommendations to ensure accurate and efficient operations; Demonstrate the ability to perform research, and analyze and communicate data; Exercise sound judgement and strong problem-solving skills; Be an effective communicator with the ability to convey clear and succinct messages verbally and in writing; Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
