Grounds Assistant
Job Description:
Seeking a motivated and talented individual to assist the Head Groundskeeper in all aspects of grounds maintenance at a prestigious, private estate. The approximately 8 acres of property are highly maintained and can be considered a private botanical garden. We have a tight knit, friendly staff that all works together to maintain the needs of the owners and the beautiful, historic property. Duties:
- Perform irrigation maintenance, adjustments, and repairs during growing season.
- Oversee and manage outside landscape contractors.
- Perform regular hardscape maintenance of walkways, fencing, walls, gates, water features, outdoor lighting, pool, and other hardscape features.
- Assist with spring and fall clean-up of leaves and debris from beds, turf, and hardscape.
- Perform plant health care activities including mulching, planting, pruning, deadheading, supplemental watering, and other duties that keep the landscape thriving.
- Fertilizer and pesticide applications.
- Assist with snow and ice removal.
Job Requirements:
- Understanding and correct application of landscape maintenance tools and equipment, as well as current industry techniques and standards
- A strong ability to recognize plant healthcare needs and problems.
- Physical capacity to lift and carry 50-lbs; stand, walk, squat for extended periods of time.
- Work outdoors in adverse conditions.
- Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Three excellent work references.
- Driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- A pre-employment background check and drug test are required.
Compensation:
- This is a full-time position with opportunities for over time and continued employment.
- Starting pay is $20-23 per hour, depending on experience with health insurance and a generous 401K plan.
