Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: New Haven, CT
Schedule: Part Time 10-20 hours per week (2-4 hours per day M-F)
Type: Long Term Contract/Contract to Hire
Responsibilities:
- Preparing various types of media, buffers and solutions for laboratory experiments and procedures.
- Managing laboratory glassware, which includes cleaning, sterilizing, and organizing for easy access.
- Maintaining plant tissue cultures, which involves preparation, growth monitoring, and care.
- Keeping track of supplies and alerting management about inventory needs.
- Ensuring that the lab area remains clean, organized, and safe to use.
- Adhering to all standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree or higher in a scientific field is preferred.
- Experience in a lab setting is a plus, but not necessary.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to carefully follow instructions.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
- Knowledge of and experience with sterilization techniques and biological safety protocols is desirable.
- Ability to handle delicate lab equipment and specimens.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
