SUMMARY:
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for attaining and maintaining standards outlined by our certification body, BRC. Influences a quality focus and builds awareness with production team members. Assist management in collecting and analyzing performance data. Perform quality control analysis, work measurement, manufacturing methods, documentation, & charting. This is a 2nd shift position; hours are M-F 3:00pm-11:00pm (plus overtime and occasional Saturdays):
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the positioning of the plant for BRC certification; update policies, procedures, SOP’s, job training and standards.
- Select cartons for testing at specified stages in production process. Test cartons/sheets for qualities such as dimensions, color and performance.
- Operate and train personnel on any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job; assist with maintaining equipment calibration.
- Examine material or product for defects and conformity.
- Reject defective cartons, isolate, analyze, record & recommend corrective action. Assist with periodic mock recalls of product in compliance with BRC standards.
- Review statistical data related to product quality, delivery performance and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with all departments to improve processes and reduce defects and spoilage.
- Assist Quality Manager to perform data and performance analysis.
- Review customer complaints and pursue corrective action to eliminate causes. Mobilize to customer location if necessary to determine source of quality complaint.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining documentation of quality control processes. Monitor internal quality deficiencies and follow up on corrective actions.
- Work with managers and supervisors to improve processes.
- Coordinate internal and external audits for self-inspection.
- Assist in the training of team members regarding the ISO Quality System
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma (or equivalent) and minimum of 1 year Quality Control / Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in packaging, print or paper industry is a PLUS
- Experience with identifying root cause, corrective actions, use of quality measurement devices and performing quality audits strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of team members and customers including the use of proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Must have strong computer skills including some experience with Microsoft Excel
- Must be flexible to travel to customer location when needed (minimal)
- Must be flexible to work required overtime including occasional Saturdays (work average of 1 Saturday a month)
