Job Summary:
The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of all products manufactured at the chemical plant. This role involves developing and implementing quality control systems, monitoring production processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role reports to the Director – Regulatory Affairs
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance Systems: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance systems, including quality control plans, inspection procedures, and testing protocols.
- Quality Control: Oversee and monitor all production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
- Product Testing: Manage and coordinate product testing activities to verify quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Non-Conforming Product Management: Implement procedures for handling and addressing non-conforming products, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Audits and Certifications: Conduct internal and external audits to assess quality performance and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including ISO certifications, FDA regulations, and environmental standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve overall plant efficiency.
- Team Management: Lead and manage a team of quality control inspectors and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Data Analysis: Analyze quality data to identify trends, identify root causes of quality issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Supplier Quality: Manage relationships with suppliers and ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within the chemical industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality control methodologies, statistical process control (SPC), and quality assurance systems.
- Strong knowledge and experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., ERP systems, quality management software). Experience with ETQ is a plus.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with environmental regulations and compliance.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and safety procedures.
- Project management skills.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Experience with regulatory compliance in the chemical industry.
