JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to protect people, assets, and information by providing a safe and secure work environment at Charter Communication’s Corporate Campuses and facilities where Physical Security Officers (PSOs) are deployed. Charter Communication’s PSOs must be diligent in their work to: protect lives and property; maintain order; and safeguard the interests of Charter Communications and our clients. Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy at all times.
The PSO is responsible for maintaining a high visibility presence, patrolling Charter Communication’s property, monitoring cameras and access control systems, permitting only authorized entry, screening mail and other deliveries, and responding to critical incidents in accordance with established procedures. PSOs must become knowledgeable in the security platforms utilized by Charter Communications.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
- The PSO I will conduct all aspects of the daily security operations on-site including execution of the overall security plan:
- Access Control
- Interior and Exterior Patrols
- Alarm Response
Mail Safe Program
Critical Incident Response
Investigating suspicious behavior, incidents, and security breaches
Reporting to Chain of Command and Internal Partners
Contacting Emergency Services as required - Identify and report security vulnerabilities and safety issues
- Create and update incident reports
- Coordinate and liaise with internal business partners
- Must adhere to Charter’s policies when handling sensitive or confidential information
- Must adhere to Charter’s Integrity Policy and Code of Conduct
- Know post orders and associated policies and procedures
- Ensure quality of service and adherence to policies and procedures
- Utilize, account for, and maintain team equipment
- Become knowledgeable in the use of Charter security platforms and technology
- Occasional assignments to special events on and off campus
- Ensure that required security training is conducted and completed
- Serve as a backup to other officers as needed, willing to work irregular hours and weekends
- Perform other duties as requested
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Must have access to reliable transportation
Must be willing and able to work flexible schedules
Consistently displays a professional and positive attitude
Effective oral and written communication skills
Active listening skills
Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the team, internal partners, and the public
Ability to implement processes
Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately, and employ appropriate measures
Attention to detail
Ability to successfully complete all training required for the position
Ability to use office software/computer skills (re: MS Office Word, PPT, Excel)
Ability to operate a radio, telephone, and cellular phone with associated applications
Ability to learn Charter Communication’s access control systems, guard tour platform, video systems, and other security-related technology
Ability to register with state and local authorities as a security guard
Ability to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Customer Service in the retail or hospitality sector – 2+

Security Certification
Graduate of a law enforcement training academy
Preferred Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Prior law enforcement/military/fire service/hospitality/customer service/Security operations in a corporate setting
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment: Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat
