Shop Manager contract Temporary

General Summary:

· Direct and complete complex custom woodworking projects on time and within budget, including cabinetry, trim pieces and other projects needed by the customer or project team.

· Understand and communicate project expectations, goals and design intent with the owners, architects and all Krekow Jennings staff.

· Promote an attitude of cooperation and communication within the shop, our employees and our subcontractors.

· Complete ownership of the woodshop, its equipment, supplies and materials needed.

This position requires a valid driver’s license and authorization to operate company vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following:

Design

· Work with the engineer or project team to create production friendly, efficient details

· Review shop drawing for critical dimensions

· Check hardware against drawings

· Create clarifying sketches as needed

· Understand the quality expectations for each individual project

· Develop the ability to provide full scale estimates for projects, including a rough estimate, a refined estimate and provide constant updates to both the estimate and schedule

Production

· Review shop drawings and procure materials

· Delegate tasks to the temporary assistance provided by Krekow Jennings employees or it’s subcontractors

· Develop production techniques that emphasis quality and efficiency

· Monitor production schedules

· Keep an ‘as-built’ record of what is produced and shipped

Installation

· Schedule deliveries to and from the shop

· Maintain shipping records

· Help coordinate the installation sequence with Krekow Jennings staff and subcontractors when needed

· While installation is generally managed by the site supervisor, this role may require some direct oversight of installation

· In some instances, perform the installation of the finished product

Maintenance

· Oversee or perform scheduled maintenance of equipment to ensure everything remains in safe, working order

· Ensure maintenance items are in stock and properly coded

· Provides education and mentorship of shop equipment and tool knowledge to Krekow Jennings employees and other temporary visitors

Safety:

• Maintain CPR and First Aid and Fall Safety certification
• Acquire OSHA 10 certification
• Wear protective equipment when needed
• Follow safety policies and protocol specific to the situation and report any violations to the Safety Manager
• Tolerate legally permissible exposure to dust and chemicals
• Provide temporary shop help and/or temporary vehicle drivers with a safety overview and plan, utilizing JHA’s when required by the Safety Manager
