Specifications Writer

ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIREDBackground/Need ‘Our client seeks a Specifications Writer to support complex systems level design for radar systems, infrared systems, software defined systems, RF receivers and real-time control. Support hardware and software technical documentation for group 108 systems and subsystem drawings schematic diagrams, module hardware diagrams and equipment photographs to be included in the formal technical manuals. Write, review, and edit a wide range of technical documents, including: Technical Manuals, Operator’s Manuals, System Manuals, Software Manuals, Engineering References, and Test Procedure documentation. Responsible for ensuring that the organization of all material appearing in technical documentation is of the correct content, outline, format, style along with the presentation of text, tables, photographs, line drawings and software interface screen captures of systems under test.

Attend assembly, integration, test, and inspection activities as required to generate equipment views and photographs of new hardware as well as revisions to hardware as they become available for incorporation into system documentation. Provide support to incorporate any updated information into the system Operator’s Manual using photographs and associated descriptions of controls and indicators. Updates highly-detailed multi-sheet Module Hardware Diagrams generated by technical staff to reflect any modifications of the systems that needs to be included in the proper manual. Generate Detailed Block Diagrams for various chassis and subsystems.

Collect, organize, and curate system engineering data into a documentation archive, accessible via managed folder system and/or online collaboration tools. Generate Functional Block Diagrams (FBDs) of hardware and software functional behavior, and update the block diagrams as needed. Generate software data flow diagrams such as maps and associated spreadsheets to be incorporated into the Software Manual. Skills Required:Candidate must have previous experience as a technical writerCandidate must have experience working with complex systems level designPrevious experience with radar, software defined systems, RF receivers and real time control is requiredCandidate must be comfortable dealing with technical end usersStrong Excel, Publishing Tools, Web application and office tools is requiredExperience with electrical/electronic schematics and mechanical diagramsSkills Preferred:Experience using interchangeable lens digital cameras is preferredOther:Clearance: Candidate must have final secret clearance to be considered for this position.

Interview Process: Zoom interview with hiring manager. Location: Hybrid – Individual works from home or off-site for a portion of their schedule and within a routinely commutable distance from the client’s facility. Candidates need to be flexible to come onsite as needed. At times, candidate should expect to be onsite 3 times a week.
