About the PositionThe Systems Analyst provides technical expertise for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of internally developed or customized software and integration solutions with an enterprise-wide function. The Systems Analyst partners with other IT staff and functional stakeholders across campus to provide analysis, development and maintenance of administrative software applications and integrations.
The primary responsibility of this position is to design and support administrative and self-service modules of Western Washington University’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system including Student, Finance, and HR as well as ERP integrations to third-party on-prem and SaaS solutions. The incumbent will also provide analysis, design, development, and support of enterprise applications for communications, reporting, analytics and business intelligence, and other enterprise applications as needed.
The Systems Analyst specializes in developing and maintaining applications with an agile, iterative development methodology utilizing modern development frameworks, environments, and architectures. This position requires the incumbent to be able to effectively design and implement the data source, data access, business logic, and presentation layers of an application.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience demonstrating ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above
+ One+ years of experience developing web-based applications
+ One+ years of experience in technical or process analysis
+ One+ years of experience supporting functional end users
+ Experience in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g. Java, Groovy/Grails, C#)
+ Demonstrated understanding of relational database concepts and SQL development
+ Experience with UI technologies – HTML, CSS and JavaScript
+ Experience with one or more IDEs (e.g. Eclipse, IntelliJ, Visual Studio)
+ Ability to solve complex problems, be a self-learner, and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
+ Ellucian Banner 9 Admin Page and Self-Service development experience
+ Experience using version control to manage a large, multi-developer codebase (e.g. GitLab, Git)
+ Experience developing web apps within a MVC framework
+ Experience developing applications in Java and Groovy/Grails
+ Experience developing system integrations through flat file exchanges and API calls
+ Experience with build tools (e.g. Maven, Gradle)
+ Experience with AngularJS
+ Demonstrated understanding of REST APIs and other methods of integrating with third-party applications
+ Experience integrating third-party systems with Ellucian Banner
+ Experience integrating applications using Ellucian Ethos
+ Higher Ed IT experience, especially in supporting student information systems/functions (Human Resources, Finance, Registration, Admissions, Financial Aid, Housing, etc.)
+ Experience working in a team environment utilizing agile principals and methods
+ Business and systems process analysis experience
+ Familiarity with container and virtualization technologies
+ Strong knowledge of the Oracle DBMS environment and tools
+ Working knowledge of Unix OS and scripting
+ Project management and team leadership experience
+ Experience implementing unit tests and integration testing
