POSITION SUMMARY:

The Traffic Control Lead 4 works under the direction of a contractor to identify the various needs and or phases of a job. The Lead engages in providing onsite leadership and supervision of the work crew to successfully complete a job. The Lead 4 is tasked to assess their work crew’s performance and to provide feedback to the City Rise Safety Team. The Lead specializes in the following: traffic control equipment installation, flagging setups, flagger control, job supervision, setting an example for the traffic control crew and giving guidance to the apprentices. A Lead has the responsibility to protect the lives of our customers, motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and themselves on the roadway.

POSITION DUTIES:

1. Supervise job site and the crew
2. Onsite client contact
3. Maintain a consistent and unrelenting focus on safety throughout all job functions.
4. Manage day to day work zone set up, maintenance and tear down. Meeting or exceeding customer, state, federal and company expectations.
5. Follow company and MUTCD guidelines for effective, safe well-managed work zones.
6. Drive company trucks.
7. Tow trailers.
8. Keep equipment in trucks well organized and in working order.
9. Develop superior knowledge of work zone setup and professional traffic control responsibilities.
10. Provide the highest level of customer service to all customers. This includes on-time arrival and professionally managed work zones
11. Provide suitable feedback to the technician and apprentices on their performance and record such feedback in evaluations collected by the operations management.
12. Responsible in reporting to operations management and safety and work-related injuries, including providing required completed reports.
13. Other duties not listed may apply.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to recognize dangers using hearing and vision.
2. Ability to manage stressful situations and take safe action to avoid serious injuries to any pedestrians, vehicles, customers, and employees.
3. Ability to understand traffic signals/signs, traffic plans and customer requests.
4. Ability to communicate with customers, the public, and with other team members.
5. Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred not required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High School Diploma preferred.
2. Two years in a similar role or equivalent
3. Must have a valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record (must be insurable through company insurance policy)
4. No driving violations within 3 years
5. No more than 1 moving violation within 3 years
6. Flagging one year (preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Frequent lifting of heavy objects, ability to carry and place traffic cones to ensure the safety of the work zone. Lifting may be up to 50 lbs.
2. Lift, carry, place, and assemble traffic control signs in the proper order to manage work zone traffic.
3. Stand for extended periods of time while flagging, in various weather conditions, and different times of day/night.
4. Various noise decibel levels
5. Stooping for prolonged periods of time.
6. Dexterity in the use of hand and fingers
7. Reaching, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing and Vision (up close, at a distance, along the periphery)
