SUMMARYThe Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining phase schedules for shipyard projects, ensuring efficient resource utilization and alignment with production capabilities. This role requires close collaboration with Planners, Engineers, and Production teams to meet deadlines while maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness.
Production Scheduler is responsible for identifying bottle necks and recommending adjustments to optimize efficiency as well as supporting the development of management schedule and performance reports.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed.Prepare, maintain & follow up Phase Schedules for Shipbuilding projects based on resource availability , production capacity and project timelines.Conduct thorough assessments of workforce, equipment, and material availability to inform realistic scheduling decisions.Liaise with planning and production teams to align schedules with operational capabilities and ensure smooth workflow across departments.Active participation to development & internal training of HPSI scheduling set-up (Primavera P6 & SAP) to ensure accuracy and data integrity for all related management reports.Development of Schedule performance reports (schedule status, productivity, etc.) together with Planning Reports Analyst.Participation in project meetings, schedule follow-up meetings representing Production Management Department interests.Perform other related duties as required and assigned.COMPETENCIESAble to communicate effectively with all levels of the organizationDecision making/problem solvingAdaptability and organizational skills and understandingIntegrityStrategic thinkingStress ManagementWillingness and ability to work as a team memberEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBS or MS (Emphasis on Engineering or Naval Architecture) preferredExperience in shipbuilding or other fabrication industries preferredPlanning experience in manufacturing industries preferredKnowledge/experience of modern planning practices – critical paths, bottlenecks throughput restrictions, etc.Knowledge/experience of modern shipbuilding process and terminology preferredKnowledge experience of productive work methods, capability to make productivity/efficiency comparisons preferredKnowledge/experience planning / ERP systems – Primavera P6, MS Project and SAP (preferred)Other software skills – MS Office, Autocad (preferred)WORK ENVIRONMENTEnvironmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke.
