Gallery Sales Associate & Retail Keyholder (Part-time)

Tappan is seeking a responsible and art-enthusiastic part-time Retail Keyholder to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the daily operations of our gallery, ensuring smooth functioning in both customer service and store management. As a keyholder, you will oversee opening and closing procedures, manage sales transactions, and assist in providing exceptional customer experiences in our gallery space.

Key Responsibilities:

• Open and close the gallery in accordance with store procedures
• Provide outstanding customer service, including offering knowledge of artists, exhibitions, and artwork
• Handle sales transactions, process payments, and reconcile cash at the end of each shift
• Assist in maintaining a visually appealing gallery and back showroom by overseeing merchandising, cleanliness, and the presentation of artwork
• Assist with gallery events, exhibitions, and other customer-facing activities
• Monitor stock levels, assist in inventory management, and notify the team of any stock or supply needs
• Act as a point of contact when management is unavailable, ensuring the gallery runs smoothly
• Follow security and safety procedures to protect artwork and customers
• Track volume of customers
• Work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to start, possibility of more days going forward.

Requirements:

• Previous retail or keyholder experience, preferably in an art gallery or creative environment
• Strong interest or background in art, with a willingness to learn about our artists and artworks
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
• Reliable, responsible, and capable of handling store operations independently
• Basic proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems, Shopify Preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Additional Skills:

• Experience with digital project management and customer service tools preferred
• A willingness to to learn and grow your skills
