The General Services Department (GSD) is the agency that holds the responsibility of furnishing essential resources and services that support state government operations in New Mexico. GSD’s professional staff provides multiple lines of insurance coverage, litigation defense, loss prevention and alternative dispute resolution services; facility planning and design services and construction management; building and landscape maintenance services; vehicle leasing and air transportation services; technical support for agencies in the procurement process; printing and graphic art products; and financial and accounting services. Why does the job exist?
The Accountant and Auditor Supervisor oversees the accounts receivable and claims management staff within the Risk Management Division’s Finance Bureau.
This role includes managing unemployment accounts for state agencies, public schools, and local public bodies.
How does it get done?
The Accountant and Auditor Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the accounts receivable and claims management staff to ensure timely payment collection, accurate account reconciliation, and adherence to DFA rules and regulations. The position focuses on optimizing receivables processes, managing AR staff, and building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, this role provides oversight for recording notations in the claims management system.
Who are the customers?
The job supports internal customers to include property & casualty staff, legal staff, and the RMD Finance Bureau Chief, as well as external customers including state agencies, public schools and local public bodies.
Ideal Candidate
– Experience in accounting.
– Experience supervising staff.
– Experience in SHARE financials to include Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance and/or budgeting. Substitutions Apply.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
