Apply your expertise as a Lean Continuous Improvement Engineer in our Analyzer Products and Integration Business Unit.
As a Lean Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will be part of the Valmet API Lean Management Department which supports the Analyzer Products and Integration Business Unit.
The Lean Department analyzes, improves, and standardizes manufacturing and business processes with the objective of increasing productivity and company profitability, while maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, morale and customer satisfaction. This is a high visibility role that provides the opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s operational excellence. The team works out of our Houston office but also support projects involving our Singapore and Germany facilities.
In this role you will
* Identify, recommend and implement cost savings ideas by applying lean methodologies and tools such as DMAIC, PDCA, Visual Factory, Work standardization, Poke-Yoke, and others.
* Create and maintain E2E Value Stream Maps.
* Facilitate Kaizen events and other cross-functional events/teams/projects to ensure that actions lead to expected business results.
* Identify opportunities and Improve processes by developing digitalization and automation solutions using programming languages such as Visual Basic Application (VBA) and Structured Query Language (SQL).
* Apply Data Analytics and Database visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI to create reports and dashboards for business KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and to simplify business decision making.
* Identify, execute or support projects to optimize product and material flow and to reduce lead times.
* Perform Lean assessments, Root cause analysis, constraint/bottleneck analysis, capacity analysis, and assembly line balancing as required.
* Improve Workstations and Facility Layout Designs.
* Design Fixtures and Tools to improve assembly process.
* Perform time studies to maintain accurate labor times in production routings for product costing.
* Support the global harmonization of business and manufacturing processes among our 3 production facilities.
* Support proper documentation of processes and Work Instructions.
* Perform cost and benefit analysis for capital investments projects and production improvements.
* Implement systematic change management methodologies to ensure smooth transitions when executing projects in the workplace.
* Educate and coach the workforce on lean methodologies to foster a lean culture across the organization.
Expectations
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, other) Data Analytics, Computer Science or related field.
* 5-10 years of experience working in manufacturing as industrial/manufacturing engineer, lean/operational excellence role, or other related positions.
* Proficient in Lean Methodology (Preferred green or black belt certification)
* Experience successfully implementing complex improvement projects to increase process efficiency, reduce lead times and operational cost.
* Experience with DMAIC, 8D/A3, Root cause analysis, time studies, Kanban and 6S implementation and other Lean tools.
* Experience creating Value Stream Maps (VSM) using Visio or similar software.
* Experience designing assembly aids (fixtures/tools).
* Strong problem solving and data analytics skills.
* Experience using Visual Basic Application (VBA) and Structured Query Language (SQL) to improve processes.
* Experience with data visualization tool such as Tableau, Power BI or similar tools.
* Familiar with ERP systems such as SAP or Infor LN.
* Proficient in MS-Office Tools (Excel, Word, Power Point)
* Excellent verbal & written communication skills with strong facilitation and presentation skills.
