Position Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day production schedule and the crews productivity to ensure the timely and efficient completion of the production. Under the direction of the Producer, they develop and oversee the individual department schedules and implements the overall project strategies. The PM interacts with Producer and Heads of Departments on day-to-day crew progress and needs. Also, the Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that pertinent information is always communicated to all appropriate parties on the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Managerial:
Act as point of communication between studio/agency/client for all reviews, production schedules, meetings.
Establish trusting relationship with Producer by remaining consistent in support of the production and communicating important production information.
Advise producer of any potential problems or issues, particularly those impacting budget, and offering solutions.
Ensure that artists receive and understand any executive, director and client notes. Also in charge of communicating client notes in a way that set artists up for success.
Communicate the overall show schedule, coordinate and track the day-to-day workflow and production related requests in all phases of production.
Manage project-relevant post production needs including incoming and outgoing deliveries, digital assets, delivery specs and deliverables, and provide any additionally needed assets to streamline post workflow.
Attend color, mix, and QC sessions with producers, directors, and/or DPs. Track and communicate any notes/assets requests from all parties.
Schedule and attend any department head and crew meetings of active projects and check-in daily with department heads and artists to ensure that production is moving forward and/or any specific issues or needs are addressed.
Stay up-to-date on shoot schedule and progress and keep producer and director informed; support producer by strategizing ways to consolidate production builds and shoot schedules.
Manage production purchases / expendables / emergency rentals & reconcile receipts.
Organize all documents & files pertinent to production on server for both active use and archival use.
Oversee project wrap out of camera and art departments including logging, consolidating, and maintaining detailed Inventory of wrapped and stored physical assets.
Manage and train production assistant as needed per project.
Generate and maintain detailed and presentable pre-production books.
Production / On Set:
Generate script breakdowns.
Conform and print storyboards.
Set up ShotGrid projects.
Communicate stage prep and stage wrap equipment with IT, Facilities and other potential departments.
Generate shoot call sheets and distribute.
Create and manage shooting schedule and big board and track the day-to-day shooting progress.
Manage and work with the crew and creative team to make sure stages are moving forwards and/or specific issues are addressed and/or escalated.
Track crew’s hours and communicate potential OT requests with producer.
Coordinate and request building access key cards/hours for crew and ensure the return of crew badges after wrap.
Manage technical obstacles of flow, Dragonframe, and stage computers to IT and oversee the troubleshoot.
