Job Purpose:

The SAP Basis/Platforms Lead is responsible for overseeing the performance, and stability of the SAP environment and related non-SAP environments, such as Microsoft Power BI. This role includes ensuring effective collaboration with third-party service providers, handling technical troubleshooting, and driving strategic, continuous improvements to SAP infrastructure.

The SAP Basis/Platforms Lead supports the organization’s business requirements by maintaining SAP system efficiency and reliability while optimizing system performance. This role requires a deep understanding of SAP to ensure the stability, performance, and seamless interaction of all related software. In addition to SAP, other software platforms are included in this role as they rely on our ERP systems for critical business functions (i.e. web services, credit functions, reporting, production systems, etc.)

A critical part of this role is managing external service providers and implementing Global Governance. The administrator must take a proactive approach, using monitoring tools to maintain system performance and security, helping the company grow while preventing any disruptions to business.

Responsibilities:

SAP Basis Administration:

• Work with 3rd part Basis teams to oversee day-to-day operations of SAP systems, including installations, configurations, and upgrades.
• Monitor SAP system health, performance, and capacity, ensuring optimal uptime and efficiency.
• Monitor and maintain interaction with the SAP related applications (i.e. AD, Esker)
• Work with 3rd part Basis teams to perform regular system maintenance activities, including backups, disaster recovery, and archiving.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

• Provide advanced technical support for issues, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis for SAP and related applications (i.e. credit card processing, document management, reporting systems).
• Collaborate with internal teams and third-party providers to resolve incidents and minimize downtime.
• Conduct system performance tuning and optimization, making recommendations to improve system efficiency.

Coordination with Third-Party Service Providers:

• Serve as the primary liaison with external service providers, ensuring effective communication and alignment of services.
• Oversee third-party performance, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and organizational standards.
• Evaluate vendor deliverables, identify any service gaps, and ensure corrective actions are taken when needed.

System Security and Compliance:

• Implement security standards and protocols within SAP systems to ensure data integrity and compliance.
• Regularly review and update system security patches, monitor vulnerabilities, and enforce access controls.
• Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

• Maintain accurate documentation of system architecture, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Provide training and knowledge sharing for team members and end-users, as needed.
• Ensure change management processes are followed, updating documentation with system changes.

Strategic Continuous Improvement:

• Identify and lead initiatives for enhancing SAP system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve SAP system integration and resolve technical challenges.
• Stay current with SAP developments, updates, and best practices to support organizational goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in SAP Basis administration, including hands-on experience in SAP installations, configurations, and maintenance.
• Recent experience working in an extended, full-time role as a part of a collaborative Basis or Infrastructure team.
• Experience working with and managing third-party service providers.
• Administration and understanding of WEBGUI, Web Dispatcher, BTP, and Solution Manager
• Experienced with SAP Router
• Experience managing connectivity and performance for local and remote SAP users (including authorization and licensing)
• Working knowledge of SUSE Linux
• Application of support packs, kernel patches, java patches, enhancement packs and upgrades
• SAP Job scheduling
• Hands-on execution of DEV and QA system refreshes
• Hands-on experience with planning and execution of regular maintenance and major upgrades, including changing management controls.
• The ability to manage external service providers, enforce Global Governance and SLA’s

Technical Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of SAP Basis, S/4HANA, CCMS Monitoring and other relevant SAP modules. SAP Central CCMS Monitoring administration knowledge.
• SAP Archiving solutions

• Experience working in a change control environment such as ITIL

• Familiarity with system monitoring tools and performance management practices.
• Strong understanding of SAP security protocols and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with Azure Active Directory as well as administration of Microsoft 365 applications

Physical Requirements:
